New Jersey Fire Museum
and Fallen Firefighter Memorial

MEMORIAL

History
In 1981, a state commission selected the New Jersey Fire Museum at Allaire State Park in
Central NJ as the location for a NJ Fallen Firefighter Memorial. The commission proposed
the memorial be erected with public donations, not state funds.

Primary Features
The primary design feature is a circular granite wall on a 60' diameter. This wall outline s
the plaza which is filled with granite pavers . Four e ngraved panels are mounted on the
interior walls illustrating the history of fire -fighting. Flanking those panels are sets of
panels engraved with the Honor Role of Fallen Firefighters in chronological order. The
centerpiece of the memorial features a mosaic granite tribute surrounding a bronze
sculpture. Personalize d memorial pavers will surround the centerpiece.

The wall is divided into 4 equal sections approximately 36’ in length with openings at each
point of the compass. The opening that connects to the Fire Museum main entrance will
host flag poles for the National Colors, state and fire service flags. The other three openings
present future options for additional sculptures.

Public Participation Is Essential
Personalized memorial pavers may be purchased for $150 (standard) or $350 (double). The
order form is available at www.njfallenfirefightersmemorial.org or the museum site at
www.njfiremuseum.org. You will receive a certificate indicating your engraved text within
4-6 weeks of order date . All engravings will be displayed at the VIRTUAL MEMORIAL
coming to the website in 2008. You can also contribute by supporting our NJ sports themed
fund-raising events or the purchase of T-shirts. Visit the website for more information.

Memorial pavers are a lasting personal tribute to your family, friends and loved ones and will remain a permanent part of the memorial's history for future generations to honor.
